The Fisher King (The Criterion Collection)

I watched this very young (maybe eight?) and was drawn to it even then but, with age, this movie has only come to be even more profound. If you've ever had a loved one who was/is unhoused or have worked with the unhoused, this movie will likely stay with you as it has with me.

The term "sonder" comes to mind when thinking of this movie. According to Webster's, it is defined as "the realization and understanding that all other people have lives as complex as one's own".

Amanda Plummer (90's film goddess) and Mercedes Ruehl are just outstanding. And, Michael Jeter? Don't get me started. He totally steals the show. You'll see Sesame Street's Mr. Noodle (the OG one) in a whole new, fabulous light.
