This is a documentary (under an hour, I believe) directed by Marlene Booth, reflecting on the history of the Hawaiian Pidgin language, officially recognized as a language in 2015.
It includes interviews from locals and Native Hawaiians, who discuss their experiences speaking pidgin around outsiders, the reaction of outsiders towards Hawaiian Pidgin but also the kinship found in Hawai'i's diverse communities through this unique language.
An enlightening, heartfelt love song to such an integral part of Hawaiian culture. Highly recommend viewing.
