Roseanna (Henning Mankell)

This is the first in the 10 book Swedish Martin Beck mystery series, which is set in Stockholm from the 1960s to the 1970s.

Roseanna takes place in the mid 1960s, with hints of the Sexual Revolution when a woman named Roseanna's body is found in a lake. Details of the victim are few and it is up to Martin Beck to find a lead in country--and a world--experiencing significant social change.

If you like this first novel, I highly recommend at least reading up to the fourth book, The Laughing Policeman, because this is when all the character in this series really have their personalities and temperaments fully realized.
